On the way to school recently, Lucius Brock Charbonneau told his mom he’s a celebrity.
The Barrie boy was all smiles after catching Danny Jansen’s home run ball during the Blue Jays’ ninth-inning comeback at their Sept. 20 home game.
“He’s been to a game a few times with his dad — his dad is a big Jays fan,” mom Rachael Brock said. “It was a big deal for him. He was up late and ended up not going to school the next day, which is OK because how many kids get to have that experience?”
Brock said her own mom called her in tears after seeing the pure look of joy in Lucius’ face.
“He was so happy and that’s what a mom lives for, is seeing her kid like that.”
The Jays were playing the Tampa Bay Rays and were down by a score of 8-3 when Jansen brought in three runs during the ninth inning. The Jays ended up winning the game by a score of 9-8.
“That’s the beauty of baseball.” 💙
