DUNEDIN, Fla. — Devon Travis will be sidelined for at least a few times with what the Blue Jays are describing as left knee irritation.
Travis past started out at 2nd foundation Monday but has given that aggravated the knee, so the Blue Jays are getting careful with far more than a few months remaining before opening day.
“Day-to-day deal,” manager Charlie Montoyo explained. “We’ll see right after (Monday) how he feels and we’ll go from there.”
Travis has previously dealt with correct knee accidents, which include a bone bruise in 2016-17. Late past yr, left knee and hamstring soreness sidelined him as very well. The Blue Jays despatched him for a precautionary MRI, and he did not participate in right after September 21.
Right after a ache-free of charge wintertime, some soreness has returned.
“There’s very little wrong with it,” Montoyo explained. “It’s just inflamed so we have obtained to give him some time.”
If Travis were to start out the time on the hurt listing, the Blue Jays would most likely switch to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. as their beginning 2nd baseman, which would open up up a utility infield place for either Eric Sogard or Richard Urena.
As for Gurriel Jr., who left Friday’s sport in Orlando right after taking a pitch off of his left forearm, the Blue Jays were relieved to master that he’s physically good.
“Just a small contusion, but he must be fantastic to participate in every time,” Montoyo explained.
