The San Francisco Giants are interested in trading for Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. Pillar, 29, slashed .252/.282/.426 with 15 home runs and a career-high 40 doubles in 142 games for the Jays in 2018.
He’s in his second year of arbitration eligibility and is scheduled to hit free agency in 2021. Pillar is considered one of the best defensive centre fielders in baseball, earning the nickname Superman by the Jays faithful. The move wouldn’t shocking given the Jays are in the midst of a complete rebuild and have a number of promising younger outfielders in their system. Randal Grichuk could move to centre.
