The Blue Jays have added a pitcher.
Toronto has acquired left-hander Clayton Richard from the Padres, the team announced Sunday. San Diego will receive outfield prospect Connor Panas in the deal.
Richard was designated for assignment by San Diego earlier this month.

The 35-year-old pitcher tallied a 7-11 record with a 5.33 ERA in 27 starts for the Padres last season. He struck out 108 and walked 60 in 158 2/3 innings pitched.
Richard has also pitched for the White Sox and Cubs during his 11 MLB seasons. He holds a 4.46 career ERA.
The Blue Jays finished 2018 with a 73-89 record and missed the playoffs for a second straight season.
