DUNEDIN, Fla. — Randal Grichuk homered in his spring debut as the Toronto Blue Jays dropped 11-5 to the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
In the lineup as the selected hitter following a foot personal injury stored him out for the Blue Jays’ first 4 video games of the spring, the normal outfielder belted a three-run homer in the 3rd off Phillies starter Enyel De Los Santos.
Ryan Borucki created his second start off of the spring for the Blue Jays (1-4) and took the loss following supplying up five runs in two innings. The still left-hander walked three and struck out one.
Top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr., went 1-for-3 with a double for Toronto.
Main 5-4 following three innings, the Phillies broke it open up with 4 runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Blue Jays reliever Ken Giles was roughed up in the fifth, unable to get an out though supplying up 4 runs.
The Blue Jays engage in split-squad video games on Friday versus the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates.
