Blue Jays news and notes from the morning of November 20, 2018, including some former Blue Jays signing MiLB deals and a new prospect being assigned to Buffalo.

Trent Thornton Assigned to Buffalo

According to the official MiLB transactions page for the Triple-A International League, right-handed pitcher Trent Thornton, who was recently acquired by the Blue Jays from the Houston Astros in exchange for Aledmys Diaz, has been assigned to Triple-A Buffalo.

As many have already noted, Thornton will likely be added to the 40-man roster in order to be protected from the Rule 5 draft.

Hauschild Signs on with Cards

Mike Hauschild, who very briefly was a member of the Blue Jays this summer, has signed a minor-league deal with an MLB Spring Training invite with the St. Louis Cardinals, the team announced Monday.

Hauschild, 28, has pitched a total of16.1 major league innings, 8.1 of them coming this summer with the Jays, where he made one start and appeared in two games overall.

Guilmet Goes to Minny

Another former Blue Jay, right-handed pitcher Preston Guilmet, has also joined a new organization, signing a minor-league deal with the Minnesota Twins, per Rhett Bollinger of

Guilmet, a former member of the Cardinals organization, pitched to an ERA of 9.00 with the Jays this season in 8.0 total frames, striking out five and walking four.

Drury Changes Representation

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, Blue Jays infielder Brandon Drury has switched agents. He was formerly represented by CAA Sports and will now be represented by the Wasserman Sports Group.

Drury, 26, has 315 major league games under his belt in parts of four seasons with the Jays, Yankees, and Diamondbacks. Most recently, he slashed .154/.241/.231 in eight games with two and four hits. He played primarily third base in limited action after being traded to Toronto.
